In a Grammy Awards ceremony marked most startlingly by voters’ snub of Beyoncé’s magnificent Lemonade, Jennifer Lopez, before awarding the best new artist prize, quoted Toni Morrison: “This is precisely the time when artists go to work,” she said. “There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear.”

Daugherty: Tales Of Hemingway; American Gothic; Once Upon A Castle (Naxos)

Giancarlo Guerrero, conductor; Tim Handley, producer. Guerrero, the director of the Nashville Symphony, is a native of Costa. The album is also the winner of the BEST CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL COMPOSITION for Daugherty: Tales Of Hemingway

Mexico scored two awards tonight:

BEST REGIONAL MEXICAN MUSIC ALBUM (INCLUDING TEJANO)

Un Azteca En El Azteca, Vol. 1 (En Vivo) by Vicente Fernández (Sony Music Entertainment México)

Bruno Marswhose is partly of Puerto Rican heritage, led a moving tribute to the late Prince.
