Happy (Belated) Birthday, Bob Marley! Would have been 72 Yesterday, Feb. 6


Bob Marley is obviously one of the most iconic musicians and culture figures of all time. The reggae legend helped put both his home country of Jamaica and Rastafari culture on the international stage, and he became a celebrated spokesman for the downtrodden people in Jamaica, America, Africa and everywhere.

Today (February 6) would have been Robert Nesta Marley’s 72nd birthday, and fans around the world are celebrating his legacy as an activist and as an artist. From his early days with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer in the original Wailers, to his iconic days as a solo superstar, Bob Marley’s music and message have lived on despite his tragic death in 1981 of cancer.
