Just noticed that today is the last day of 23 FEMI, Festival Régional et International du Cinéma de Guadeloupe [the 23rd edition of the Regional and International Film Festival of Guadeloupe]. This festival of Francophone film, is part of FEMI’s mission to promote cinematographic works and filmmakers from the wider Caribbean, including directors who may go unrecognized by the general public. The festival, organized around the theme “Pleins feux sur le cinéma Caribéen” [Full focus (all stage lights) on Caribbean cinema], took place from January 27 to February 4, 2017. This year the festival also recognized Colombian cinema, since 2017 is the year of France-Colombia relations.
To close the event there is an evening gala tonight at Mémorial ACTe and a ball, “Le bal des étoiles,” at the Salako Hotel in Gosier, Guadeloupe.
