The 39th International Short Film Festival at Clermont-Ferrand, which takes place February 3-11, 2017, has chosen the Cuban film Con sana alegría [With Healthy Enjoyment] directed by Claudia Muñiz. Joel del Río (Cubacine) reports that the Festival received 6173 entries, and selected only 103, so that being selected for the competition is already a prize in itself that honors the director and her team, as well the Cuban film industry.

Del Río also points out the world renowned Clermont-Ferrand festival selected this unique Cuban short film in a competition that includes titles from the United States (9), the United Kingdom (5), Germany (5), the Netherlands (3) and France (3).

Latin American representation is headed by Brazil and Colombia (the latter is the honored guest in this year’s edition). There are also two short films from Spain, while Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, Peru and Argentina compete with one title each. [. . .]
