The Jamaica Gleaner writes that Pulse model Alicia Burke can add the moniker Caribbean Queen to her extensive resume of accomplishments on the international circuit, as she is the new cover of SHE Caribbean. Earlier this year, Vogue (October 2016) described the 22 year-old Jamaican model as “the elegant newcomer” and “the model Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, and Dolce & Gabbana can’t get enough of.” The Gleaner reports:
And although the cover carries no formal title, this latest achievement crowns an incredible year for a young woman, who, in less than 12 months, has become arguably the most successful model that Jamaica or the wider Caribbean has produced.
She is certainly the fastest rising and the most heralded from the region. No one before her, in any given year, has done the body of work, in quality, quantity or prestige that she done in her first year.
While SHE Caribbean cannot claim the prestige of French or Italian Vogue, it is an outstanding publication in its own right and one of the best from the Caribbean. Being recognised at home is always a particular thrill, so her latest cover is undoubtedly a special pleasure for Burke.
Burke’s SHE cover was shot in London by Swedish photographer Saskia Lawson, with hair and makeup by Lauren Alice @ Mandy Coakley Represents. Styling was by Emily Cocklin. [. . . ]
