The 2016 International Festival of New Latin American Cinema [Festival Internacional de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano] is under way. The Festival, which aims to disseminate films that contribute to reaffirming Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity, opened on December 8 and will continue through December 18 in Havana, Cuba.
In the festival, which includes multiple screenings throughout the city, workshops, lectures, and round-table discussions, Latin American and Caribbean countries compete in the areas of fiction, documentary, animation, first works, unpublished scripts, and film posters. The festival was founded in 1979.
