Last week the Director of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), and icon of the world ballet, Alicia Alonso, received the key of the city from the Town Hall of Boca Rio, in the Eastern Mexican State of Veracruz.
Alonso was honored there on November 13 by young students who were awarded scholarships by the Integral Family Direction, and professionals of recognized prestige in the region at a gala that will recognize her career in art and contribution to the dance.
The founder of the BNC and recognized as ‘prima ballerina assoluta’ was also recognized as distinguished visitor during her visit to Veracruz.
Alonso will preside over the inauguration of the Staff of Ballet Dance of the National Ballet of Cuba, in this territory, with an intensive course that will be taught by outstanding teachers trained by the Cuban School of Ballet to a group of students from this manifestation.
The ballet, with influence of the BNC, takes on growing interest in this part of the Mexican territory, together with Cuba by cultural and historical ties.
