Just a year after being founded, the Danza Acosta Cuban dance company is projecting itself internationally, with its next destination being the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London.
Dancers are working on polishing the final details of their performances at their studio on Línea Avenue in Havana for appearances scheduled from October 3-7 at the famous venue.
You can follow the groups’ rehearsals on their Facebook account, with th emost recent post focusing on dancers Gabriela Lugo and Luis Valle, who will be starring in ‘Carlos Acosta: The Classical Farewell’.
They will perform the pas de deux from the Scheherazade ballet by Russian Michel Fokine, and also ‘Anadromous’ by young Cuban choreographer Raul Reinoso.
According to the company, the performance in London is a tribute to Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta following his retirement from classical ballet.
Along with members of Danza Acosta, the cast includes foreign dancers like Ryoichi Hirano, Yuhui Choe, Sarah Lamb, Laura Morera, Marienela Nuñez and Valentino Zuchetti, all from the Royal Ballet.
