“Hamilton” Tony Awards

Tonight, Lin-Manuel Miranda won Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical for Hamilton. [And although we have mentioned this before, just to make my friend Angeles happy—yes, he is Puerto Rican!] Our most enthusiastic congratulations to Miranda and Hamilton’s talented crew. Earlier today, BBC News noted that Hamilton’s notably multi-racial cast has marked it out as the antidote to this year’s OscarsSoWhite furor. So true.

Hamilton also won a slew of other Tony Awards: Thomas Kail won for Direction of a musical; Renée Elise Goldsberry won Featured actress in a musical; Paul Tazewell won for Costume design of a musical; Howell Binkley for Lighting design of a musical; Daveed Diggs won Featured actor in a musical; Andy Blankenbuehler won for Choreography; and Alex Lacamoire won for Orchestrations. I hope I didn’t miss anyone.
