The concert will celebrate the contributions of Robert Rabin in the struggle for justice, health, the environment and sustainable development in Vieques and Puerto Rico, while raising funds for the non-profit community radio station, Radio Vieques.
The concert will feature the talents of singer-songwriters Zoraida Santiago, Tito Auger, Chavela Rodríguez, and Mikie Rivera as well as Orquesta Nacional Criolla Mapeyé, Haciendo punto… el otro son, Ausuba, and the theater collective Agua, Sol y Sereno.
Robert Rabin was a leading spokesperson for the Committee for the Rescue and Development of Vieques [Comité Pro Rescate y Desarrollo de Vieques (CPRDV)]. He was arrested several times and imprisoned for six months for his involvement in the mass civil disobedience action that was able to halt the military practices of the United States Navy on Vieques. CPRDV became Radio Vieques (WVQR 90.1 FM), a community radio station for which Rabin works as general manager.
