DOMFESTA 2016 is set to be bigger and better than ever. The media launch for the event was held at the Old Mill cultural Centre on Tuesday April 19th. The festival is organized by the The National Cultural Council and the Cultural Division.
Acting Chief Cultural Officer, Jacinta David, remarked that the aim of DOMFESTA which is the Dominica festival of the Arts is to showcase Dominican talent.
One of the highlights of this year’s DOMFESTA celebration is a Dream-a dance/concert hosted by the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company.
Other events include International Jazz Day, an art and music night, poetry against violence night and a creole spelling bee competition. The events will run from April 30th to June 3rd 2016.
The Music Lovers Band will also host a 60th anniversary concert at the Peebles Park and the DOMFESTA film program will be held every Tuesday in the month of May.
During the ceremony, the Dream Foundation, founded by former carnival queen, Leslassa Amour-Shillingford , made a donation to the Dominica Institute for the Arts.
