Lecture: “Guánica Centrale and the foundation and consolidation of Ensenada”


The Museum of History, Anthropology and Art at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras extends an invitation to a lecture by Dr. Humberto García “La Guánica Centrale y la fundación y consolidación del poblado azucarero de Ensenada” [Guánica Centrale and the foundation and consolidation of the sugar town of Ensenada]. This event will be held at the museum on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 7:00pm.

Humberto García—historian, professor and researcher at the Institute of Caribbean Studies, UPR-RP—will discuss the development of Guánica Centrale and Ensenada in the time frame between 1902 and 1920 using visual references, including photographs and paintings.

This lecture is part of a series of activities around the exhibition “Reflections of the History of Puerto Rico through Art: 1751-1950,” curated by historian and educator Lizette Cabrera.
