The Lakes Region Chapter of the New Hampshire Audubon Society will present a program called “Leeward Ho!” presented by Dr. Pam Hunt, a NH Audubon Society ornithologist, on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Loon Center in Moultonborough, The Laconia Daily Sun reports.

Hunt has long been fascinated with the islands of the Caribbean, and has a goal of seeing all the West Indian endemic birds. Achieving this often requires quick visits to small islands for the one or two species that can only be found on each.

In one particularly hectic bout of such travel, she visited four islands and three countries in the course of five days, but spending the night in the same place the whole time. Island hopping in the northern Lesser Antilles, she found all her target birds, plus cool lizards, friendly people, and an active volcano, and will share the tale in this program.
The Loon Center is located on Lee’s Mill Road; follow the signs on Blake Road from Route 25 near the Moultonborough Central School, or from Rte. 109 turn on to Lee Road and turn left on Lee’s Mill Road. Refreshments will be served.
