A new exhibition has been launched at the Glass Room in the Colston Hall (Bristol) foyer on Jamaican illustrator Wilfred Limonious, bringing together a diverse selection of his work produced from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s, Sam Gregory Manning reports for Bristol247.com.
Starting his career producing comic strips for the Jamaican daily newspaper The Star, Limonious also worked as in-house illustrator for the Jamaican Movement for the Advancement of Literacy.
Relatively unknown in the wider art world, but much loved among reggae enthusiasts, Limonious illustrated hundreds of distinctive album covers for the burgeoning dancehall scene coming out of 1980s Jamaica.
Running for six weeks from January until March 6, In Fine Style is the first solo retrospective of Limonious and will display his colourful, vivid and hilarious comics and illustrations in the Glass Room.
