Earlier this month the Jamaica Observer praised Oriel Barry, a reggae singer from Dominica, for his two new Eps (including the relaunch of “Confidence”) and his active year on the festival circuit. Here are excerpts:
It has been a busy year for Dominican singer Oriel. He released two EPs and performed on Rebel Salute and Reggae Sumfest. The 31-year-old artiste is relaunching the campaign for Confidence, lead song from his second EP, Confidence 2.0.
“Confidence got a lot of love when it was released a few years ago, but we know that it has vast potential…way beyond what it has already achieved,” he explained. “We subsequently did a fresh mix, put on some background vocals and had it re-mastered by (Grammy-nominated British producer) Daniel Boyle for Confidence 2.0.”
The song is complemented by a music video that was filmed in Kingston.
Confidence was initially released in 2012. The original version was co-produced by Oriel and Lloyd ‘Cookie’ Willacy, his Afar Music Group colleague.
[. . .] Oriel plans to tour Europe in 2016, and release his first album.
