Artists from Havana’s Teatro El Público and Cuban artists living in Miami have collaborated on the world premiere play Yellow Dream Road, a piece written in Miami by Cuban playwright Rogelio Orizondo. Directed by Carlos Díaz of Teatro El Público, the play about the relationship between Miami and Havana features Lili Renteria, Mabel Roch, Javier Fano, Mabel Valiente and Alegnis Castillo in the cast. The title Yellow Dream Road suggests the yellow brick one in The Wizard of Oz, a key thematic thread running through Orizondo’s play.
Presented by FUNDarte, the University of Miami, Teatro El Público and Miami-Dade County Auditorium, the play will be performed at the auditorium’s On.Stage Black Box in Spanish with English supertitles. Performances are 8:30 p.m. Nov. 19-21, 5 p.m. Nov. 22. Tickets are $25 ($20 seniors and students), available via Ticketmaster. Call 305-547-5414 or visit www.fundarte.us.
