L’Institut du Tout-Monde (ITM) is a partner for the 1st edition of the Kanoas Festival, “A time dedicated to the theater of the Caribbean,” to be held on September 24-26, 2015, at the Gare au Théâtre, located at 13 rue Pierre Sémard, Vitry-sur-Seine in Paris, France. This festival is organized by the “L’Autre souffle” Company, directed by Jean-Michel Martial and it “is destined to become the annual Festival of Caribbean Theater.
Description: For three days Festival Kanoas will host events to highlight Caribbean artistic expressions, mixing shapes, dance, bodies, and sounds through storytelling, slam, dance, readings, and the spirit of openness and sharing. The festival will include participants from Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad.

Two theater pieces seen for the first time in Paris: Wopso and Les Monologues du Vagin (the Haitian version of The Vagina Monologues); dance performances with Chantal Loïal and Max Diakok; slam poetry with Blade; readings and lectures by Sylvie Laporte, Mylène Wagram, Souria Adèle, Laurence Baptiste, Rose-Esther Guignard, Christopher Bayemi, Irene Bicep, Roselaine Bicep, Laurence Baptiste, Serge Djen, Hélène Hardouin, Nathalie Jeannet, Jorge Migoya, Sonia Emanuel, Maïté Vauclin, Laurence Baptiste, Patrick Cheval, Christian Julien, Quetzal Barrera, and Jean Pierlot; and storytelling with Igo Drané, Rose-Esther Guignard, and Marie-Céline Chroné.
