The International Woman of Reggae concert, a co-presentation with the Coalition to Preserve Reggae will take place at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College’s Walt Whitman Theater on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
Description: Etana, whose latest release I Rise hit #1 on the Billboard Reggae Charts in November 2014, headlines an incredible line-up of female performers who represent the feminine energy in reggae. The evening also includes child prodigy Nadine Sutherland and UK based “lovers rock” diva JC Lodge, both making rare New York appearances, as well as Lady Ann, the first female deejay to go number one with her big hit, “Informer,” who along with Junie Ranks will bring an ’80s dancehall flavor.
Newcomer Shuga (in her New York concert debut), Toronto’s Tasha T (2015 Juno Award nominee for her album Real Talk), and Chyna Nicole (who just released 20 Years in the Making) round out the bill. It’s a celebration of worldwide female artistry ranging from classic Roots divas to today’s newest voices.
