Upcoming Exhibit: I Catch the Pattern

Langston Hughes Community Library & Cultural Center
“I catch the pattern”
a group exhibition based on the poetry of
Mr. Langston Hughes

March 7 – April 30, 2015
Reception: Thursday, March 12, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

This exhibition brings together the work of ten visual artists and one poet, all connected to Queens. Each was invited to mine the poetry of Langston Hughes, reading for links to his/her existing work or prompts to make something new. What images or words catch the beauty and variety of Hughes? What patterns might exist between his language and the reflections of these artists working now? I catch the pattern is the first line from the Langston Hughes poem,Silence (1941).
