Claudia Balthazar (Latin Post) writes that Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega has agreed to assist the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia in peace talks with the government after seeing an invitation from the guerrilla group.
“I remain ready and willing to assist in any and all areas that will help promote further peace, stability and progress,” Vega responded to FARC’s invitation in a statement to Fox News Latino. “The security of my country and peace within our borders remains a very big concern for me, my family, and all Colombians.”
Vega also vowed to go around the world and “act as an ambassador for my country, promoting Colombian culture and all of the opportunities that it has to offer” during her reign as Miss Universe. “That said, the main representative of Colombia is President Santos. If he and the Colombian government think I can be of any help, I remain ready,” Vega’s statement said.
It is not yet clear if a reigning Miss Universe pageant’s guidelines would allow the 22-year-old Colombian beauty to visit Havana, Cuba for the Colombia peace talks. [. . .]
