Call for Papers: Festival de la Palabra Academic Program—The Caribbean and its Diasporas


Many thanks to Nadia V. Celis for sending us this call for papers for a new feature Festival de la Palabra [Festival of the Word], an academic program with sessions presenting critical readings—The Caribbean and its Diasporas. The event, hosted by Salón Literario Libroamérica, will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico in October 2015. The submission deadline is May 30, 2015.

Description: Festival de la Palabra is pleased to announce that will feature an academic program on current interdisciplinarity and literature of the Caribbean, Latin America, and its diasporas; Latin American literature and its diasporas; Literature and social media; current children’s literature of Latin America and its diasporas; Gender, Transgender Studies, and current Latin American literature; Race, exile, and migration, regarding contemporary Latin American literature; and translation, literature in translation, and hybrid languages of Latin America and its diasporas.

All interested scholars are welcome to submit a one-page abstract for a 20-minute presentation or a proposal for a four-presentation panel. Abstracts should be double spaced, and must include a brief C.V. of the participating scholar. Panel proposals should include all four abstracts for each presentation, a brief C.V. of all participants, and a panel abstract.
