Puerto Rico is getting ready for the 45th edition of the Fiestas de San Sebastián [The Feast of Saint Sebastian]. This year the festival will be held from Thursday, January 15, to Sunday, January 18, 2012, and it will be dedicated to boxing champion Félix ‘Tito’ Trinidad. The organizing committee of the festival will confer a prize to the iconic boxer on January 15 at 7:00pm. This year’s official poster (above) was designed by artist René Benvenutti.
The festival, which is sponsored by the Institute for Puerto Rican Culture, takes place along San Sebastian Street in Old San Juan for four days, celebrating Puerto Rican culture with a full program of parades, costumed revelers, performances, dancing, music, food, art exhibitions, crafts, and fireworks.
The main stage will be set up at Plaza del Quinto Centenario, but you will also find musicians and dance groups taking part in performances on many streets of Old San Juan and other squares such as Plaza de Armas, Plaza de La Barandilla, and Plaza Colón.
