In celebration of the National Exhibition 2015, the Fine Arts Program of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, located at the Museum of Old Arsenal of the Spanish Navy [Museo del Antiguo Arsenal de la Marina Española] will sponsor the 1st Congress of Plastic Arts on April 18, 2015. The congress will be organized around the theme “Migration, geopolitics and global art: Puerto Rico as Context” and will be dedicated to the life and work of Olga Albizu. The deadline for submission of abstracts is January 15, 2015.
Artists, graduate and undergraduate students, and all professionals in the areas of History, Art History, Visual Arts, Sociology, Political Science, Philosophy, Theory of Art, Image Theory, Literature, and humanists in general to discuss the arts in Puerto Rico.
Presentations will be gathered in a special collection to be published by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture. Papers should be between 15 and 20 double-spaced pages in order to achieve presentations of no more than 30 minutes. Images will be included as appendices to the proposed pages.
