Minister of state at the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Hugo Swire, has stressed the significance of three memoranda of understanding signed with Cuba in the areas of sports, diplomatic relations and trade.
Swire said that his visit to Cuba demonstrated Britain’s support of the economic transformations underway on the island and he expressed his interest in the visit here by members of the British business community.
During an official ceremony in Havana last Thursday, Cuban deputy foreign trade minister Antonio Carricarte and Swire signed documents to help promote bilateral commerce and joint work in sectors like tourism, agriculture, energy, infrastructure and sciences.
