The NGC Bocas Lit Fest South is around the corner, taking place November 8-9, 2014, at the University of Trinidad and Tobago Campus at the Southern Academy for Performing Arts (SAPA), Todd Street and Rienzi Kirton Highway in San Fernando, Trinidad. Events include a tribute to Samuel Selvon; readings; music performances; story-telling; workshops; book exhibits; poetry and spoken word recitals; lectures; and more. OPENING: Remembering Samuel Selvon
Celebrating Selvon’s life and work on the twentieth anniversary of his death with feature remarks from Ken Ramchand on “The Other Selvon”, and dramatisations by actors Errol Sitahal and David Sammy.

Award-winning author Karen Lord introduces writers to one of the most popular contemporary genres. This workshop is for all prose writers keen to experiment with and master the specific challenges of writing alternate histories and worlds, sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, and post-apocalyptic narratives.
