St. Croix: 2nd Bi-Annual Maroon Commemoration

Chenzira Davis Kahina, Director of the Virgin Islands and Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) recently announced the bi-annual commemoration of the Maroons of St. Croix, organized around the theme address “Evoking the Maroon Legacy through the Arts, Spirituality, Archaeology, History and Public Policy.”  This event will take place on September 26, 2014, starting at 2:45pm at the Great Hall on the UVI Albert Sheen Campus, University of the Virgin Islands, Kingshill, St. Croix.

Description: SUCCEED, Inc. in collaboration with the VI & Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) and the Center for the Study of Spirituality and Professionalism (CSAP) of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) extends an open invitation to attend the bi-annual commemoration of the Maroons of St. Croix. On Friday, we will address “Evoking the Maroon Legacy through the Arts, Spirituality, Archaeology, History and Public Policy.” This gathering will be held at the Great Hall on the UVI Albert Sheen Campus starting at 2:45pm for a sacred reflection by the adjacent baobab tree followed by an interactive and mixed media roundtable discussion through 6pm.
