The XVIII edition of the World Creole Music Festival in the Caribbean will be held in Dominica from October 24 to 26, announced today the Discover Dominica Authority.
The event, that will have as theme “Creole Runs the Night”, of the band Kokonuts Krazy, that will take place at the Windsor Park Stadium.
As part of this festival, presentations of the Jamaican dancehall artist Jah Cure and the Grammy Award-winning Merengue singer Elvis Crespo from Puerto Rico are included.
This range of Creole musical acts is generating a great deal of excitement with an impressive variety of bands that have confirmed their participation, among which there is Tabou Combo, Haitian band with more than 50 years.
In this new edition of the festival, especial attention will be given to Zouk, style of rhythmic music originated in the French Antilles, especially on the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, that has its roots in Haitian kompa.
Zouk means “party” or “festival” in Creole.
