The International Napoleonic Society (INS), in association with Museo Napoléonico and the Oﬃce of the City Historian of Havana, presents the Napoleonic Society Congress to take place at the Hotel Parque Central [Central Park Hotel] in Havana Vieja, Cuba, from July 7 to 11, 2014. The main theme for the conference is “Napoleon and Revolutions around the World.”
On Monday, July 7, after opening remarks by J. David Markham (President, International Napoleonic Society, Canada), Jean Mendelson (French Ambassador to Cuba), and Dr. Eusabio Leal Spengler (Official Historian of Havana), renowned Cuban ethnologist Natalia Bolívar will present on “The Founding of the Museo Napoléonico, Havana.”
Among the many fascinating lectures and related events, on Thursday, July 10, 2014, 10:30am, Dr. Michael Connors, author of numerous books on Caribbean architecture and decorative arts, will present “French Empire Furniture in Havana’s Museo Napoléonico.”
That same evening, there will be a screening of a film by Silvia Marina Guana:Napoleón Bonaparte en Cuba.
