As part of the 6-week festival calendar, New York audiences are invited to attend Selebrasyon! Open Studios, which brings Haitian visual artists to the fore all over the metropolitan area. On Sunday afternoons, from May 25 until June 22, 2014, view new work at the creative studios of Haitian and Haitian-American artists for an opportunity to discuss their career, style, and inspiration. Featured Selebrasyon! Open Studio Tour artists are Francks Deceus, Sophia Domeville, Eric Girault, Shakespeare Guirand, Nadïne LaFond, and Mahalia Stines.

Description: Seeking to highlight the dynamic presence of Haitians in New York as well as in Haiti and other parts of the Diaspora, “Selebrasyon!” provides opportunities for artists, especially those who are emerging, to share their work and build new audiences. Designed to bring individuals into dialogue with practicing visual artists in a range of disciplines, Selebrasyon! Open Studio Tours will offer the chance to gain insight into emerging and established artists’ creative process and technique.

“Selebrasyon!” and “Selebrasyon! Open Studio Tours” are presented by Haiti Cultural Exchange, a Brooklyn-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
