Updates from POETRY IS AN ISLAND: Derek Walcott


The team that produced Poetry is an Island: Derek Walcott, has sent an update to its contributors full of interesting information about the film and its successes since it premiered last September. I am posting part of that message here so you can share in the progress of the film through the links enclosed. Kudos to them!

The film premiered in Trinidad at the TTFF13 in the presence of Derek Walcott and his family. (September 2013) After the film, Derek Walcott said:


After the screenings in Port f Spain, the film screened in Havana (December 2013) at the FilmFestival and in New York, hosted by the St.Lucian Community (February 2014)

Back at Castries, St. Lucia, hosted by the Governor General, again in the presence of Derek Walcott and his family. This took place as a main event of Nobel Laureate Week during Derek Walcott’s 84th Birthday in January 2014.

The film was broadcasted on Dutch Television in April 2014.

Then.. In Amsterdam- The Netherlands- (March 2014)  in the Bahamas (April 2014), in Aruba (April 2014), back in Port of Spain at the Bocas Litfest ( April 2014) and soon in Washington DC (June 2014)


The film also screened in Castries at the Cinemas. (May 2014). Here is a wonderful review.
