The 2014 edition of Caribbean Jazz Matazz is scheduled for June 8 at the Broward Centre for the Performing Arts. One of the featured artists slated for the event is Myrna Hague, known as Jamaica’s First Lady of Jazz.
The show will also feature reggae crooner Richie Stephens and guitarist Eugene Grey along with Trinidadian Charmaine Forde accompanied by George Tandy.
Caribbean Jazz Matazz promises to be a delightful evening of Caribbean music of the highest calibre with proceeds going towards funding scholarships for students with proven financial needs enrolled at the University of the West Indies (UWI), the release said.
Hague who has recently completed her PhD at the UWI on ‘Jazz in the Caribbean’, is co-founder of the Ocho Rios Jazz Festival with deceased husband Sonny Bradshaw.
