Foreign Affairs minister Carlos Morales met Tuesday South Africa Ambassador Naphtal Manana to discuss bilateral ties, among them the possibility of establishing an embassy of that nation in Dominican Republic.
Manana stated Pretoria’s interest in opening a South African embassy, noting that his government is currently “going through the internal protocol to proceed as soon as possible.”
Morales and the ambassador lauded the close friendship of both governments since they established diplomatic relations in May 2002. “The relationship between the Dominican Republic and South Africa, started almost twelve years ago characterized by cordiality and mutual respect,” Morales said.
Manana heads the South African embassy in Havana, Cuba.
