The volume “Un japonés en Santiago de Cuba: una historia de amor” (A Japanese in Santiago de Cuba: A Love Story), by historian Lidia Sanchez Fujishiro, will be launched during the International Book Fair, to begin in February in Havana, Prensa Latina reports.
Published by “Ediciones Santiago” publishing house, the book deals with the family history of the writer, based on the romance between her grandfather, Keniche Fujishiro, and her grandmother, a Cuban native woman from early 20th century.
The saga of the first child of the so-called land of the Rising Sun that arrived in this city and founded a home, motivated the interest of the Japanese embassy, and the book was released during the day that was devoted to that culture, amid other activities.
