Scrappy Retains Montserrat Groovy Monarch Title

UK based soca artist Scrappy (Garvin Johnson) captured the 2013/2014 Groovy Soca Monarch crown at the finals of the ‘Punch & Get Out’ Groovy Soca Monarch competition with his song “Guilty” (from the album We Soca).

When asked how he felt about winning the competition he said, “Winning the Groovy Monarch competition in Montserrat feels like a next major accomplishment. In the soca music industry, winning an award or a crown is something we all recognise, and is used as a way to mark our achievements, so I am very happy for it.” Scrappy also intends to defend his crown next year, as he says, “In honour of fair game, I have to. I am an artist, and until I step out of the arena I will always make the time to defend my crown.”

This is the second consecutive win for Scrappy within this category, and it was secured with the hit song “Guilty,” which can be found on Scrappy’s album We Soca, available for digital download from all major online music shops.
