The National Book Design Prize 2013 in Cuba was awarded to the designer Nelson Ponce, in recognition to the aesthetic and innovative values of his work, Prensa Latina reports.
According to a statement issued by the Cuban Book Institute, steady work of Ponce has allowed him to leave his mark in the book design, illustration and the new technology.
The jury, chaired by the National Design Award 2012, Martha Mosquera, and comprising four other prestigious professionals in this area, adopted the decision by majority after evaluating the 10 proposals submitted by personalities and literary institutions.
Since 1998 the Cuban Book Institute gives this award as a testimony of public recognition to the work of renowned designers who contribute with their professional prestige to the publishing world performance.
The award will be presented at a public ceremony next February 17 as part of the program of activities of the XXIII International Book Fair of Havana.
