On her Facebook page, Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat invites us to watch the following short but powerful video: ‘Solidarity with Denationalized Dominicans’, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_24N_JHea50.
It is a new video by Gerald McElroy, a Master’s student at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, New York, whose “Eso No Se Hace” (You Can’t Do That) slogan is now used by severalorganizations and individuals worried about the massive denationalization of Dominicans of Haitian descent as determined by the ruling TC/0168/13 of September 23, 2013 by the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic. The video invites one to imagine what would happen if the USA implemented a law similar to the TC ruling.
McElroy made his first video, ‘Eso No Se Hace’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izSLTrTaKRk, just four days after the TC ruling. See this article in The Morningside Post: http://www.themorningsidepost.com/2013/10/28/gerald-mcelroy-mia-14-mobilizes-dominicans-against-discriminatory-law.
