Hero Film and CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution (CTWD), a group of media companies that produce, market and exhibit Caribbean-themed films, attended DISCOP to showcase content from the Caribbean Diaspora and source potential co-production partners in Africa.
CTWD is headed by award-winning international filmmaker Frances Anne Solomon and Toronto producer and director Nicole Brooks, who feel there is synergy between their regions and Africa. “Africa is a natural partner, we are currently seeking co-producers and sales in these territories and DISCOP acts as a perfect bridge to bring together Caribbean content and the African market,” said Solomon. Brooks continued: “We are part of the African family; our stories are an extension of African history and culture, so we are here to build partnerships.”
Hero, the new feature documentary, is a CTWD co-production is about the transformative life and times of Ulric Cross, the most decorated World War II West-Indian squadron leader. The film is scheduled for release in 2014.
