Hunter College’s Center for Puerto Rican Studies Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Happy anniversary, Centro! The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Centro) at Hunter College has been busy celebrating 40 years of documenting the story of Puerto Ricans in the United States with an array of activities this year that showcase a rich legacy, helping to preserve Puerto Rican heritage, and engaging in scholarly research. Their big 40th Anniversary Celebration will take place on October 17, 2013, with a VIP reception and a public reception at the Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work in East Harlem (2180 Third Avenue), New York.

The public reception will feature refreshments, live music from Guayasón, and the opportunity to see the Posters on the Wall: Our Nuyorican Story and nu-YO-Rican art exhibits.

The VIP reception will kick off in the building’s auditorium at 5:30pm. Centro’s VIP supporters will enjoy elegant hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and a concert by Multiple Grammy Nominee Bobby Sanabria & Cuarteto Aché, based on the theme of “De Puerto Rico a Nueva York.”
