The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is the longest running jazz event in the Dominican Republic. This year, the 17th Annual Dominican Republic Jazz Festival will be held in Independence Park, Puerto Plata on October 31; the Hotel Casa Marina Amphitheater in Sosúa on November 1; and Cabarete Beach, Cabarete, on November 2-3.
The event is a free, multi-day festival full of rhythm, flavour, and colour, held each year on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, featuring some of the world’s best Latin jazz groups and musicians. This cultural event welcomes distinguished musical artists from across the globe, such as former New York Yankee and classically trained musician Bernie Williams, and Rufus Reid, George Garzone, Billy Drummond, Marco Pignataro, Richie Flores and Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez.
The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is a renowned, annual cultural event that brings jazz to a diverse crowd of music lovers, comprised of local residents and tourists alike. The festival also brings music education to the region through its affiliation with FEDUJAZZ, a non-profit organization that conducts musical workshops for youth. Motivating and developing young artistic talent, FEDUJAZZ has partnered with local organizations like the Dream Project to further assist in the education of Dominican children, using jazz as the teaching platform.
