Due to enormous requests, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be heading to San Fernando with three shows at the Naparima Bowl. On Friday 16th August, just for primary and secondary school students, there would be a performance at 2pm and then another show later that evening and on Saturday 17th August at 8pm for the general public.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream was developed, in part, to help students sitting the CXC English Literature paper get a clearer understanding of Shakespeare’s text. To facilitate this, the material was approached using a local accent and intonations and set in contemporary Trinidad and Tobago infusing the local culture of bacchanal, commess and partying. For the general public, the play is just as entertaining as it is educational showcasing some of T&T’s best performers who demonstrate their dynamism and talent, as a cast of seven take on the roles on twenty. The entire experience is pure and intimate with minimalistic costuming, make up and set design.
Tickets are $100 for adults and $50 for students and on sale at Naparima Bowl, 19-21 Paradise Pasture, San Fernando, JD’s Exclusive 69 High Street, Princes Town and 62 High Street, San Fernando, Fen’s of Marabella, #1 Union Road Marabella, Valini’s Drug Mart, 58 Sutton Street San Fernando and Laxmi Jewellers, 52A High Street San Fernando.
