According to Haiti Press Network, after six screenings in a Hollywood movie theater from June 28 to 30, the short film Addiction—produced by Perri and Sagine Pierre and directed by Danny Dzhurayev—has been selected to compete in the Oscars’ short film category.
Haitian-born producer and actor Perri Pierre specifies, “Thousands of short films are produced each year; a hundred films will qualify; ten will go to the semifinals; and 3 to 5 films will be nominated to really participate in the Oscars.”
For the moment, Addiction has already been selected for the list of 100 qualified films. It is a long way to go, but the young producer is confident that the film will be among the nominees for the 86th Academy Awards to be held on March 2, 2014.
Description: About a young man’s battle between finding true love and his addictions, this film has a deep understanding of the true effects that drugs and alcohol have on a stable and sane relationship. But is his mysterious object of desire really the one or has she hiding a deep dark emotional secret all along? Written by Steven Spiel and Bethany Moriarty, Addiction features Perri Pierre and Vicky Jeudy.
