Guadeloupean Supermodel Willy Monfret, Spokesperson for French-Caribbean: “Let me show you my islands”

On June 4, 2013, the Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board launched an e-marketing and social media campaign called “Let me show you my islands” starring the Guadeloupe Islands and supermodel Willy Monfret as their U.S. “Ambassador.”

This campaign will feature a video miniseries of five episodes in which Monfret will offer American travelers an insider’s look at his beloved French-Caribbean Islands. “Let me show you my islands” will also highlight the best deals, activities, hot spots as well as the savory gastronomy of this very eco-friendly and welcoming archipelago.

It will also celebrate the Seaborne Airlines’ new non-stop flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, running four times a week, starting June 1, 2013. Also featured is the new American Airlines’ weekly non-stop service from Miami to Pointe-à-Pitre operating since April 6th of this year. Both Seaborne – with AA code share agreement – and American Airlines will enable convenient connections from all majors U.S. and Canadian gateways.

Thanks to his international modeling career and his lead role in “Right Thru me”, the music video of female rapper Nicky Menaj, Willy Monfret is already an icon in the United States. Originally from Guadeloupe Islands, Willy Monfret is a French-Caribbean supermodel and world-traveling DJ now based in New York. He has hit the runways and done fashion shoots for the most prestigious brands such as Ralph Lauren, Benetton, Assaro, Calvin Klein and Sean John. He has also been featured in Vogue and graced the covers of GQ, Preference and Men’s Health amongst many others.

When asked why they picked Monfret, Sandra Venite, the Guadeloupe Island’s new U.S. representative answered: “Not only do his eyes look like our crystal-clear waters, but his genuine spirit and simplicity truly reflect the character of the Guadeloupe archipelago.”

Starting June 4, 2013, “Let me show you my islands” will feature one new video clip per week over 5 weeks.

The campaign can be seen on the official website of the Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board, on twitter @visitGuadeloupe #MyGuadeloupeIslands and the Guadeloupe Islands Facebook page. Monfret will be also tweeting to his followers @monfretwilly #MyGuadeloupeIslands.

The campaign will be available also on the France Tourism Development agency official website, Twitter@franceTourismpr and the FranceGuide Facebook page.
