Call for Submissions: “The Work of Julia de Burgos (1914-1953)”

Xavier F. Totti announces a call for submissions for a special issue of CENTRO Journal—The Work of Julia de Burgos (1914-1953) in Honor of the Centennial of Her Birth. The guest editor for this special issue is Lena Burgos-Lafuente (Stony Brook University-SUNY). The deadline for submission is January 3, 2014. The special issue will be published in the Fall 2014.

Description: In honor of the 100th anniversary of Julia de Burgos’ birth, Centro seeks papers that reflect critically on Burgos’s work from diverse interpretive approaches. Areas of interest include: works in the context of Caribbean literary and political circuits; works that examine or add to her archives, such as radio program scripts, correspondence, political texts and her journalistic work; and avant-garde and literary traditions in her work; among others.
