Caribbean jockey poised for Kentucky Derby history

U.S. Virgin Island native Kevin Krigger is a little more then 24 hours from becoming the first black jockey in well over 100 yeas to win horse racings’ biggest prize, the Kentucky Derby.

If 29 year-old Krigger from the island of St. Croix wins the Kentucky Derby aboard Golden Scents Saturday, he’ll be one of only a handful of Caribbean jockeys to ever win the  prestigious Derby as well in the races 139 year history.

His win will not be easy in the expected 20 horse field as of today.  He will also be up against 25 year-old Rosie Napruvnik, who would also set history if she were to cross the finish line first becoming the first woman jockey to ever wear the blanket of roses.  Either way history is on the line Saturday in the Kentucky Derby.
