The first edition of the Festival Ka Blues Vibrations will take place on March 30-31, 2013, at New Morning in Paris, France. New Morning is located at 7-9 rue des Petites Ecuries in Paris (10th arrondissement), France.
Under the leadership of Dominique Tauliaut (shown above), for many years director of the group Balkouta, this festival will bring together musicians from Guadeloupe and Martinique. The repertoire will include jazz, gospel music, ka, bèlè, and other fusion and traditional sounds. Performers include Belya (bèlè), Franck Nicolas (jazz ka) with Grégory Privat and Arnaud Dolmen, Human Voice Quartet (jazz vocal), Gospel Life Rejoice (gospel) and Balkouta (modern gwoka and jazz).
The festival wants to bring together musical alternatives from the African and American continents and the Caribbean islands (Overseas Departments) that have a direct relationship with the métissage of France. Including about 40 artists from diverse backgrounds, this event is organized as gathering space around black music and its history, focusing on music, literature and visual arts. The festival will end on March 31 with two workshops: “Chant Boulaguel” and “Gospel, Dance, Percussion.”
