Vieques: Un cortometraje [Vieques: A Feature Film] will be featured as part of the Vieques Film Festival [Festival de Cine Viequense] this Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 7:00pm at the El Fortín Conde de Mirasol Museum in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Director William Nemcik will be at the screening. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
The 2001 feature length documentary, 93 minutes long, is in Spanish with English subtitles. Vieques: A Feature Film was directed by William Nemcik and produced by Caqui Santaliz and José Juan Nazario de la Rosa. The film examines the effects of the U.S. Navy presence on Vieques and its people. It includes footage of mass protests, as well as interviews with family members of civilian David Sanes, who was killed as a result of the U.S. naval bombings.
