Brian Mac Farlane’s “Joy-The Finale” has captured the George Bailey Band of the Year title for Carnival 2013, as Donstan Bonn reports for Trinidad and Tobago’s Express

In what Mac Farlane has indicated will be his last year of competition, Joy-The Finale amassed 1,361 points to give the veteran masman his seventh consecutive Large Band title.

Ronnie & Caro’s “The Mystery of Cascadura” placed second with 1, 247 points while the presentation “Fleets In” by Trinidad All Stars steelband was third with 1,189 points.

Mac Farlane first shot into prominence in 2005 when he captured the Band of the Year – Medium with his presentation “The Washing – By Fire and Water.”

The next year he moved up to the Large Band category and came second with “Threads of Joy”, as Trini Revellers took the title with “Rome – The Empire.”

His 2007 presentation “India – The Story of Boyie” would bring him his first George Bailey crown and his amazing run of success.

He followed it up with Earth – Cries of Despair (2008); Africa – Her People, Her Glory, Her Tears (2009); Resurrection – The Mas (2010); Humanity Circle of Life (2011); and Santification (2012), before culminating with yet another victory in 2013.
