The Afro-Cuban feminist rap group Krudas Cubensi aka “Las Krudas” will perform with guest singer/rapper Danay Suárez at Casa Gaia on January 12, 2013, at 8:30pm. Casa Gaia is located at 157 Teniente Rey Street between Cuba and Aguiar Avenues in Havana, Cuba.
Las Krudas is an emblematic all-women’s rap group in Cuba (apparently part of the original group moved to Texas) that has been defined as not just feminist, but also “not integrated to the heterosexual system.” Their work and their predilection for politically-charged songs have been documented in the documentaries Reina de mí misma/Queen of Myself: Las Krudas d’Cuba and Guerrilla Radio: The Hip-Hop Struggle Under Castro.
