Hublot King Power Oceanographic 4000 Diving Watches Pay Homage to the Caribbean

It is difficult to walk the fine line between a quirky, interesting item and an advertisement; in this case, I was simply fascinated by the descriptions of these Hublot diving watches and the details that make them a tribute “to the beauty of the Caribbean Sea and its islands.” The Swiss watchmaker chose 8 islands: Aruba, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Curaçao, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St Maarten, and St. Thomas (USVI). Here are a few pertinent  excerpts:

In order to pay homage to the beauty of the Caribbean Sea and its islands, Hublot created eight limited editions of its stunning King Power Oceanographic 4000 diving watch. Capable to resist pressure up to 4000 meters under water, new Hublot watches are crafted in titanium and decorated with an appealing note of turquoise blue that matches the color of the Caribbean Sea. Featuring an engraved map outline of the island on its case-back, each edition is dedicated to different Caribbean Island nation.

The renowned Swiss watchmaker has spent 18 months of research, development and testing to create a watch that is functional on such a great depth. Like every timepiece from the Oceanographic 4000 line, new Caribbean series satisfies all international standards of Swiss Watchmaking (NIHS), which classifies them among the best professional diver’s watches. Its seal withstood tests in Roxer tank, being submerged and pressurized to the equivalent of 5,000 meters. Besides, the watch is made of grade 2 titanium, which gives it hardness, while being light despite the robustness of a 48mm case. Another material, highly resistant to extreme pressure is a synthetic anti-reflective sapphire crystal, with the unusual thickness of 6.5mm, which covers the dial of the Oceanographic 4000 Caribbean watch.

Dive-time indices run over the inner rotating bezel, while the dial features hour and minute scales, as well as a date window at the 3 o’clock position.

The new Oceanographic 4000 watch comes with a black rubber strap, coated with alligator leather and decorated with a turquoise blue stitching. It incorporates a titanium buckle for greater safety and easy-handling. The only difference among eight variations of the Hublot’s watch is visible on their case-backs. Each features a transfer of the map and the name of the particular island. The Swiss watchmaker chose 8 islands: Aruba whose watch is created in the Limited Edition of 15 pieces, Barbados (10 pieces), Caïmans (10 pieces), Cozume (10 pieces), Curaçao (5 pieces), Nassau (20 pieces), Puerto Rico (5 pieces), St Maarten (15 pieces) and St Thomas (15 pieces).
