Several choirs will gather in Havana on January 28 to perform a cantata in celebration of the 160th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban intellectual and leader of the independence war José Martí (1853-1895).

Accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Enrique Pérez Mesa, the concert will mark the premiere of Vierte Corazón, a piece boy Beatriz Corona inspired by the poem “Vierte corazón, tu pena,” included in Marti’s verses.

Cámara Exaudi Choirs, directed by María Felicia Pérez and Vocal Leo, led by Corina Campos, are part of the show which will take place at the National Theatre.

Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine, under the direction of Leonor Suarez and Liagne Reina Pérez with the Choir of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television will also be part of the concert.

As a prelude to these concerts, various children’s groups will join the commemoration, including Cantoría Lunitas and Solfa, with presentations at the National Museum of Fine Arts.
